UFOINFO Online Sighting Report
Location: Santa Cruz, CA, USA
Number of witnesses: 1
Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: Sphere, orb
Could your sighting be a UFO balloon/lantern?: No
Weather Conditions: Cold but very clear
Description: I first noticed the object as I was driving alone on HWY 1 Southbound, just before it crosses HWY 9/ River Street. I looked out my driver side window to see an unusually bright orb with an off white glow. Having been driving it was hard to judge whether or not it was moving without a point of reference. I thought it was probably just an airliner or personal plane because it appeared to be somewhere over the San Lorenzo Valley which I'm pretty sure is a typical Northbound route for planes in the area. I witnessed it for about 10 seconds as I panned by.
I merged onto HWY 17 Northbound to Scotts Valley having forgotten about the object already. It wasn't until I was leaving Scotts Valley via Mt. Hermon road towards Felton when I caught sight of the object again, having gone 10 miles North since the first sighting I immediately thought it was strange that the object was now South of me instead of farther North as it was before. I pulled over at the top of Mt. Hermon where I was joined by several other cars who pulled into the only turn out at the top of the mountain.
At least half a dozen people exited from the cars that had pulled over and all began pointing and chattering remarks such as "what is it?" while pointing at the object. The orb was clearly independent from the hills in the background and if I had to guess it was at least 100-200 ft. above the tallest peak. Having a steady vantage point since exiting the car I began to notice the orb was pulsating steadily. It didn't appear to move at all, just hover with no noise to be heard from our location.
After agreeing on the details with a few of the other persons that had pulled over, I returned to my car and proceeded into Felton hoping to get a better view. By the time I got into Felton and pulled into Safeway it was barely visible because the mountains were now blocking it.
