Grayling, Michigan

During the fourth of July weekend 1999,my brother-in-law, sister and myself went camping north of Grayling, Michigan. The last night we were there I stayed up while everyone else laid down to sleep because there was some cool heat lightning as well as shooting stars and I wanted to watch them for a while longer. Within a few minutes I saw what I thought was just an airliner flying at a high altitude. It looked much like a plane does it is very high up and all you can see is the point of light in the night sky. It came across the sky and as I watched, it stopped, started to move again, then stopped again. It did this maybe three times and then began moving slowly from side to side. I called my brother-in-law out and he said that it was "funky" I watched for like 45 minutes and then went to bed with it still in the sky. The whole time it was just moving back and forth with no sound at all. All I know is that it was not a plane because they don't stop like that. It was not a helicopter because they don't fly that high and there was no sound. After thinking about this, what looked like a couple of feet in movement from earth, was possibly more like miles when considering how far away it was. Do satellites do this? Someone please explain.
