Since I am not going to be able to make any of the UK shows during February
and I just happened to be in Italy for business, how could I possibly miss
my only chance to see UFO? The concert was at a place called Palaconcerti
Aquatica. It is basically a large tent, so I wasn't too impressed. I arrived
at about 2030 and the opening band Diving Ducks (not Danger Danger) was just
finishing up so I can't tell you too much about them and I'm sure you really
don't care. There was about 1200 people packed into the place and since I
had arrived so late I couldn't get up as close to the stage as I wanted. I
settled for the left side of the stage about 10 rows back. UFO hit the stage
at 2115, opening with Natural Thing and then following the already well
known set list to a tee. I was very disappointed with the vocals. You could
see that Phil was singing his ass off but the vocals were down in the mud.
What a shame because the rest of the band sounded so tight. I can't believe
that an attempt was not made to fix the vocal problem. Maybe it was isolated
to the left side of the stage but I doubt it. Phil looked great with black
pants (looked like the same ones he wore at the Town and Country club in
April 92) black shirt and a 3/4 length silk coat. The coat and shirt were
lost for the 2 encores. Michael was all dressed in black and played with
sunglasses for the first few songs but then removed them. He still looks
like a guitar hero with the black hair, but now he looks like a
"sophisticated guitar hero". Pete had on his patented striped tights and
played without a shirt the entire show. Paul looked good in a blue shirt
with black pants. Simon, from the little I saw of him had a white t-shirt
with black shorts. Pete was his usual wild man self. He was all over the
stage, sometimes jamming face to face with Michael and other times just
running wild. Michael and Paul basically stuck to their respective sides of
the stage although they did come to the middle of the stage for a mini
jam-fest with Pete during Lights Out. Phil put on a really good show poor
vocal sound and all. He was very animated during the songs and you could
tell that he was enjoying himself. The show ended at about 2300 but I wasn't
about to leave. I wanted to meet Michael! I wasn't to be disappointed.
Michael hung out for well over an hour after the show autographing just
about anything. However, if you had one of his CD's you got to go to the
front of the line. After I got my picture taken with him, I asked him when
we could expect the new UFO album and he said sometime this year. Let's all
hope that this is true and that the boy's stick together for a long time to
come. Maybe they could even convince Michael to play some songs live from
the Chapman years! Keep on Rockin, Scott Rush .

Profession: writer, journalist, author of essays in history, archaeology,
art. Witness's credibility: absolute.
Elements in support of report: hundreds of reports in Italy, Switzerland,
France, Spain; many articles on time daily papers. Some witness's original
sketches representing the encounter phases.
The original sketches are actually property of the International Ufo Museum of Istanbul, Turkey.
On June 6th, 1983, around the 22.30, a crowd of witnesses perceived a large bright flying object in the skies of Italy, Switzerland, France and Spain. It deals with hundreds of reports, some of which have been published the following morning by the daily paper. They also report, in different places, landings of the spatial ship and unloading of one or two of its occupants. The Ufo has also flown above populous zones in Milan. Testimonies in the Lombard chief town, often describe it as an object composed by three great and perfect spheres in line with two small globes placed under the central sphere. I will write below, in form of a brief auto - interview, my
testimony of that sighting. The event had a notable echo and has to be
considered among the most important cases of sighting of Ufos and
extraterrestrial entities ever verified in Italy.
Question: What was your thought on the phenomenon of UFO before its direct
experience?
Answer: the matter interested me, but my position was not far from that
expressed by Jung in the book "A modern myth." According to him, the figure
of the "rotundum", disk or sphere, is a classical archetype, which
represents the unconscious desire of completeness, of perfection. The vision
of an UFO corresponds, according to as explained by the Swiss scientist, to
an unconscious automatic projection.
Q: And as judged you all over the world the innumerable relative testimonies to sightings and meetings?
A: When I was a boy I was convinced that the witnesses of sightings were
visionary or mythomaniac. To that age I was attracted from the mystery, but
in mystical sense, not technological. An evening I effected live a
television prank, reporting to some ufologists, entertained by the
transmission "Portobello", conducted by Enzo Tortora, with a pathos loaded
tone, the phases of a completely imaginary sighting. My brothers and I
laughed for a long time at that joke.
Q: What the evening of June 6th, 1983 happened?
A: Something strange and fascinating. Something unforgettable. At that time I was twenty-four years old and I lived with my mother and my brothers to the fourteenth floor of a building in de Angelis street, 12, in Milan, not
far from Niguarda's hospital. The evening of June 6th, 1983 I had leant out
of the window of my room to the dark. The sky was serene and the air was
pleasant. Suddenly, from half past ten to eleven, I have seen something
amazing in the gardens of Padre Luigi Monti street (at no more than two
hundred meters of distance from my position), not away from the sidewalk,
two or three meters within the lawn. To the light of the lamp-posts, I have
seen the outlines of two thin, black and bald men, dressed in a way so
adherent that they seemed naked. On the grass, the two figures handled some
phosphorescent pipes. Uniting the pipes with great rapidity, they had built
an internally empty parallelepiped. I looked at them and I didn't know what
to think. It was strange as they had succeeded in assembling that object
without any particular operations of joint or mechanical connection. The two
figures, absorbed in the mysterious operation, were also strange. They
stirred slowly, rigidly and they were indeed tiny and thready. For some
instant, I have irrationally thought that someone was trying the scenes of a
science fiction film, even if there were neither fittings of light nor
cameras around the scene. Suddenly a kind of circular lamp - or headlight -
had been turned on by the inside of the parallelepiped and a beam of clear,
intense, dazzling light reached me on the face, flooding my room. I've felt
a great amazement and with a jump I've estranged from the window. I felt
rigid and with heavy limbs; I found also hard to complete the simplest
movement. My room seemed illuminated by the more powerful neon. When dark
returned, slowly, semiparalyzed, I've leaned out again of the window. The
two figures were still there, with the phosphorescent parallelepiped. In the
centre of the parallelepiped I didn't perceive the lighthouse anymore, not
even turned off. I had more and more difficulty to move and I had been
struck dumb, incapable, for an unknown cause, to call my relatives. I
attributed the phenomenon to the surprise, but it was just something
different. I felt me as out of the time or better, in a slacked time. I have
a void of memory that goes from the disappearance moment of the two figures
and the phosphorescent object built from them to the apparition of the great
aircraft. The Ufo appeared in distance in the sky as a light fast
approaching. I don't know the reason, but in a certain sense I was expecting
this. When its structure has become well visible, issues of lights, that I
remember in a confused way there have been. They were not pyrotechnic
effects however, but rays. I believe that there has been interaction among
the earth figures, their parallelepiped and the bright phenomena deriving
from the flying object subsequently appeared on the surface (but this is a
confused memory).
Q: Can you describe the object that you have observed?
A: The Ufo was composed of three great bright spheres, set in line and
connected among them, and of two smaller spheres, situated just under the
central globe. At a certain point the smaller dimensions spheres have gone
away from and then approached to the median sphere. The Ufo has almost
passed above my point of observation, surely to a low quota (perhaps in
other places it has been kept to more elevated quotas, as some witnesses
report. Or there have perhaps been more than a flying object). It was
silent, it sent forth a long wake and it was very great. It's difficult to
do a comparison, but I can surely say that it had enormously superior
dimensions than those of a Jumbo Jet. I've been able to really well observe
it. The bright spheres didn't have halo and I could define "solid light" the
substance that constituted her. On the side of every globe it appeared, as
if it was engraved, a circle that could be defined with the term "porthole."
When the UFO has gone further, I watched the clock: it had passed at least a
quarter of an hour more than how much I expected. The day later, in my
district and especially in Padre Luigi Monti street, it has been spoken a
lot of the facts of the evening before. Dozen people had seen the flying
object, the beams of light; someone had also assisted to the strange
movements in the gardens.
Q: What did you think then and what do you think today of that experience
A: When surprise passed, I've felt happy and privileged, aware of having
lived a rare and prodigious event. New questions appeared however in my
mind, questions to which I should have had to look for a series of answers.
Experience and knowledge are at the base of an awakening of the mind.
Eraclito affirmed that for the awaked one the cosmos is unique and common,
while sleeping is closed in his own world. There was poetry, in my
experience, but also science. Poetry and science: it's like this in my
memory. Perhaps, the people that spend a lot of time looking at the sky wait
really this: an extraordinary sign, the ring able to connect memory and
dream of the future allowing them to understand his own role in the history
of the great whole. It needs to be objective and rational, when we set us
questions on the flying objects that come from the space, but it needs also
to try of widening his own horizons, of surpassing his own limits. According
to a well know Zen parable, "when the wise man points out the moon, the fool
stops and looks at the finger."

A LITTLE INTRODUCTION ABOUT B.V.M.
by Michele Bugliaro, http://utenti.tripod.it/ufopsi/. Apparitions of the Vergin Mary, in front of many or few people, lights in the sky, the sun pulsing like a heart, miracles, crying statues... UFOs have been seen at the same time as the marian event. What's the relationship between the two ?
- Some facts and datas
Let's have a closer look at these phenomena. Usually, there's a person (80% women, 20% men) who claims to see the Virgin. Alas, the other witnesses do not see anything beyond the "seer"! We could explain this behaviour by
observing that these subjects need a mother presence; also they're affected
by the "syndrome of social recognition": not feeling recognized in their
role within society, the seer creates inside herself/himself a Virgin (or a
God) as the needed mother, who even gives HER/HIM a message. The topics were
typically ecology and peace. This psychological projection aims to satisfy
the lack of recognition felt by the seer by creating a situation in which
she/he can feel socially fully satisfied.
Also, the seer shows a weak critical wit and just accepts the facts. Nothing ufological so far. Unfortunately for skeptics, many cases feature objective evidence. It's not just an outsider. At Medjugorie, former Jugoslavia, where the Virgin's appeared weekly to five young people for years, an Austrian committee has detected a positive ionization of the air two thousand times higher than normal, where the apparition occurred. Margnelli and Gagliardi, two experts in states of alterated perception, could demonstrate that the orthosympathetic system was excited: the one who was talking to the peers needed all their attention; so they were "cut out" from reality!
Also, some cases show that the seer has been inducted to behave against
their will: in the Medjugorie case the Virgin tells not to watch TV because
then the people cannot pray anymore. In different words, praying produces
endorphines!
What about the Christian figure? She seems to come from the fourth century, and while she's speaking, she makes many grammar mistakes, or she even talks in the language of the neighbour area in stead of that area! She always appears from high to low and vice versa, while some big red and blue spots become smaller and smaller until the figure is complete. Her features (hair and eyes colour) are changed following the culture of the seer to be
believed a real apparition!
It's funny, the apparition acts definetly mechanically, in jerks: a hologram made from some old book or so, by someone who does not know well the
contemporary culture, not belonging to Earth!
- A valid explanation
Doctors Corrado Malanga and Roberto Pinotti's two years long research has
found out that people who're strongly religious see the Virgin Mary, the
ones who aren't, like abductees, see aliens. So there's a common pattern
behind both BVM and UFO events ? An alien mind able to change its look,
following the actual development of a civilization, would introduce itself
in a historical period, not as an extraneous but as a cultural factor,
aligned with the personal culture, the alien can interfere with a
civilization without traumas. To this, add the many mistakes of language and
look of the Virgin...
THE MUSSOLINI'S UFO FILES
by Alfredo Lissoni, Italy's National UFO Center - based - and updated - from an Antonio Huneeus's article (first published in Fate, September 2000).
Roberto Pinotti, Italy's leading UFO autohor and director of CUN (National
Ufological Center, now the world's largest civilian UFO research
organization), and Alfredo Lissoni, another CUN researcher and writer, gave
a lecture, during the annual International UFO Symposium in San Marino, on
the sensational discovery of alleged "X-Files" going back to the 1930s, when
Italy was ruled by the Fascist regime of Benito Mussolini.
Copies of 18 secret documents from the Fascist era (handwritten notes and
telegrams), as well as a forensic report authenticating one of the the
papers (with a drawing of an UFO), were released by CUN to the Italian media
last April 2. It received considerable coverage in Italy, including the
national TV network RAI Uno and leading newspapers like Il Resto del
Carlino, La Nazione and La Repubblica. Although these articles were posted
in Italian on the web, the Mussolini UFO documents were hardly noticed by
the American UFO community, so this is the first time the full story is told
in any detail outside Italy.
With its anonymous postings and references to a mysterious, super secret
"Cabinet RS/33," supposedly in charge of collecting, investigating and
suppressing UFO data, this story has many similarities to the MJ/12 saga, as
Lissoni points out in his articles far "UFO Notiziario". But there are
significant differences.
The main one is that the Italian documents received anonymously in the mail by Pinotti, starting in 1996, were originale and not photocopies or
undeveloped film, as in the various Mj-12 drops to Shandera, Berliner and
Tim Cooper (in 2000 anonymous "Mister X" sent more material addeessed
directly to Mr. Lissoni, but in the mail by Pinotti). The difference between
an original and a copy is pivotal since it allows forensic analysis of the
paper, typewriter ink, aging process, and so on.
Antonio Garavaglia, a top Italian forensic consultant, conducted tests orn
the Mussolini papers - but we are getting ahead of our story.
It all began in early 1996 when Roberto Pinotti received a handful of
handwritten notes on stationery bearing the seal of the "Kingdom's Senate".
(Mussolini ruled Italy with an iron grip, nominally under the king). The
year is 1936 and the secret agent uses simply a first name "Andrea" (Andrew
in Italian) and also includes a sketch of the "mysterious airship". "It was
sighted in the morning (and not in the evening) of Monday - he writes - it
was a metallic disc, polished and reflecting light, with a length of ten or
twelve meters. Two fighters from a near base took off, but were not able to
reach it even at 130 km/h. It didn't emit sound, which would lead one to
consider an aerostat. But nobody knows of balloons that can fly faster than
the wind. I know for sure that it was seen by other aviation pilots ... it
[report] has arrived to the hands of Ciano."
Count Ciano was Mussolinis son-in-law and Italy's Minister of Foreign
Affairs; he was later executed after participating in the cabal to overthrow
the Duce and surrender to the Allies in 1943. Andrea's report continues:
"Then, after approximately at least an hour and after passing over Mestre,
it was seen as a sort of metallic tube, gray or slate." A drawing by a
confidential informant was redrawn by Andrea, who explained that "A was
described like a kind of aerial torpedo, with very clear windows ... and
alternating, white and red lights.'B' were two 'hats, two hats like those
used by priests: wide, round, with a dome in the center, metallic and
following the torpedo without changing their relative positions."
The document mentions that "the Prefecture has opened an inquiry, but you
can imagine that it will make little inroad and will have a similar outcome
to that of '31. The Duce has expressed his worries, because he says that if
it were a matter of real English or French aircraft, his foreign policy
would have to start all over again."
Although Andrea's report is only one of several received since 1996, you can see that its contents are sensational - they describe a classic flying
saucer report with aircraft scramble and multiple witnesses in 1936! It
also, discloses that Mussolini and Ciano, Italy's number one and two leaders
at the time, were intimately appraised of the situation. Indeed, other
caches of documents received, always anonymously, by CUN and the newspaper
Il Resto del Carlino, mention a mysterious department known as "Cabinet
RS/33." It was charged with both investigating and covering up what the
documents call "unconventional aircraft" or "aeromobiles."
Cabinet RS/33 had links with the Fascist secret police OVRA and with
"Agenzia Stefani," the regime's news agency in charge of disseminating
Fascist propaganda. Italys most famous scientist and inventor, Guglielmo
Marconi, was the director of the Cabinet, which also included several other
prominent Italian astronomers, scientists and aeronautical engineers.
When the war began the Cabinet's secrets were shared with and literally
shipped to Nazi Germany. As Lissoni points out, rumors of Nazi discs have
plagued the UFO literature for decades, and one Italian scientist, Giuseppe
Belluzzo, is always mentioned in conjunction with the Germans Miethe,
Schriever and Habermohl. Much nonsense has been written about the so-called
Nazi flying saucers - some of it unabashed neo-Nazi propaganda - yet
undoubtedly there is at least some truth to the matter. The names of Miethe,
et al., are confìrmed by FBI and other U.S. and German documents.
Are the "Fascist X-Files" authentic? To Lissoni (who made principal search), Pinotti,and the CUN, they appear so. To the investigators'credit, however, the whole affair was kept strictly confidential under Antonio Garavaglia's forensic analysis was completed. Only then were the documents released to the Italian press and published in a series of articles beginning with the March issue of UFO Notiziario (and now, in a book). Garavaglia conduced a series of chemical tests of the paper and ink - remember he had originals and not copies - and he concluded they seemed authentic handwritten
documents from the Fascist era. The color of the paper and ink aging process
led him to believe they were genuine and not modern forgeries.
Lissoni also consulted with Andrea Bedetti, a historian and expert on
Italy's Fascist period. "I cannot exclude the real existence of a Cabinet
RS/33," said Bedetti. He also examined the documents vis-à-vis "the lexicon
and the bureaucratic style of the period", as well as the stationery
("Kingdoms Senate" and Stefani agency telegrams) and aeronautical
terminology utilized. Bedetti found that all of it was consistent with
genuine Fascist-era documents. This didn't rule out a skilled forger, but it
would have to be someone deeply knowledgeable of Fascist style, vocabulary
and terminology. Bedetti also pointed out that in the period 1933-40 -
coinciding with the alleged Cabinet RS/33- Mussolini's power was at his peak
and Italy was one of the world's leading nations in aviation and military
aeronautics.
Finally, Lissoni dug up a cryptic reference from a speech by Mussolini on
February 23, 1941, when the Duce stated: "It's more likely that the United
States will .be invaded by unknown but warlike inhabitants from the planet
Mars, who will come down from the starry space on unimaginable flying
fortresses, than from the soldiers of the Axis". What was the Duce trying to
say? The story of the Fascist X-Files is still unfolding ... if in the end
they turn out to be real, then the whole history of ufology will have to be

A STRANGE UFO OVER S.PIETRO A VICO, LUCCA.
1952, July 24, near Lucca (Tuscany). At http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/pauljones3/italyufo.htm you can
find an image based on a strange encounter by an Italian fisherman, Carlo
Rossi. After seeing a mysterious glow from behind a river bank (similar to a
V-7, I think) he decided to investigate. On climbing the bank he witnessed a
huge circular craft which seemed to be in the process of taking on water.
Very soon a figure appeared from within the object and pointed at Carlo,
panicking the fisherman. After legging it down the embankment a green ray
(death ray!?) passed over his head making him dive to the ground where he
witnessed the craft rise above the embankment and move off at an incredible
speed. Rossi also claimed to have a strange MIB encounter after this
incident.
