States and one from Canada recorded for this day in UFOCAT. The
geographical distribution of the UFO sightings is similar to the day
before, but with many more reports from California and the Great
Lakes. The majority of these reports were of flyovers by daylight
discs. For a map showing the distribution of these reports, including
hypothesized great circle routes or flight paths with four of more reports
falling along the same line, click
1947 – At 8:00 a.m. two discs zoomed in from the west over
Sacramento, California. One banked sharply and headed north.
According to one witness, it “seemed to stand on one edge as it turned.”
Both objects left vapor trails. (Source: Ted Bloecher, citing the
Sacramento Bee, July 7, 1947).
1947, Albuquerque, New Mexico – Five discs flew toward
the east over the city at 9 o’clock in the morning; one circled back over

flying rapidly in a straight line toward Bangor in a north-northeasterly
direction. (Source: Daily Kennebec Journal, July 7, 1947).
1947 – At 12:40 p.m. Sgt. Raynar Cain, USMC, reported two disc-like objects like footballs in Seattle, Washington. One banked
slightly at about 8000 feet, then shot up and out of sight to north. Second one
following a minue behind, wobbling; it headed north climbing out of sight. (Source: Ted Bloecher, Report on the UFO Wave of 1947, case # 326).
At 1:00 p.m. in 1947 a party of surveyors in Payette,

fly toward the northwest at an estimated speed of 800 km per hour. They
were lost in the clouds at an estimated altitude of 8,000 feet. (Source:
Larry Hatch, U computer database, case 862).
1947 – In clear sky at 3:00 p.m. in Anaconda, Montana a man saw six
silvery objects fluttering as they flew toward the east. A woman, an
independent witness, also saw the same three fluttering objects disappear
over the horizon. Both witnesses called the police. (Source: Jan Aldrich,
A Preliminary Report on the 1947 UFO Sighting Wave, p. 80).
1947 – At 7:00 p.m. in daylight skies over Neapolis, Ohio

1954 – Driving at night in Pipestone, Minnesota
two witnesses in a car, T & S, first saw what they thought
was a “fire” ahead of them. It turned out to be a giant luminous
robot-like humanoid entity, white or chrome plated, that was in
the roadway ahead of them and walking toward them. The
driver swerved to miss it, and passed by within 4 feet. It was
estimated to be between eight to nine feet tall, had no face, and
moved stiffly like a robot. (Source: David F. Webb & Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case # 1954-41, citing Stan Fouch, MUFON, report dated July 28, 1975).

her window and saw “a kind of spaceship” in the nearby sky, a luminous
UFO the size of a big automobile that was going back and forth 50
yards away from her. Inside the craft she could make out
something like a person, wearing clothing. The object hovered for 15
minutes, then went off to the north. Two other women also observed it.

1972 – At 1:30 a.m. a landed UFO started a grass fire when it
took off in King William’s Town, South Africa. The object resembled
a “sailor’s cap.” Some witnesses in a car attempted to pursue the object
but it accelerated out of sight. At 9 p.m. an orange fireball made a huge
arc through the sky and then came to hover over some trucks at the Witput
railway station in Kraankuil, South Africa. At 10:15 p.m. a huge
flying sphere hovered only seven meters in front of a car in Vryburg,
South Africa. It changed colors from red to green, gave off sparks,
turned yellow, and was gone in a huge flash. (Sources: FSR,

1976 – At 9 o’clock in the morning two brothers, 8-year-old Andy
and 6 year-old Joel Rygh were playing in Gitchie Manitou Park, Iowa
when they heard “strange noises followed by a grunting sound and then a
whistle.” When they looked in the direction of the noises they saw a
seven-foot tall man standing behind a bush. He was wearing a shiny blue
uniform. When the whistling sound became louder the boys ran to get their
brothers Chris, age 11, and Tom, age 9. All four boys then saw a pulsating
glowing domed object emerge from behind a large tree 50 yards away. The
object was “about the size and shape of a large haystack.” It hovered with
a humming sound for five seconds, and then sped away. Small oak trees that
the craft hovered over were later found defoliated. (Source: Pat Miller,

1999 – When the witness turned the light on outside her shed in
Ross, Tasmania she noticed an orange glowing rectangular structure
200 meters away beyond some trees. It was about the size of a house and
was surrounded by vapor. It rose, tilted at an angle, and then just faded
from view. There were no traces at the site. (Source: Keith Roberts,
Tasmania UFO Information Centre, November 1999 web page).
2000 – At around 4 p.m. Robert Taylor, age 22,
remembers being abducted near McGuire Air Force Base, New
Jersey. He found himself inside a very misty room surrounded by a
green aura. There were soft “chairs” and a long table in the center of the
room. He met several aliens described as about six feet tall, with very
long thin arms and legs. The humanoids emitted a strange humming sound. He
suffered from bizarre physiological aftereffects soon after the incident.

Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center, July 2003 archived webpage).
2003 – On this Saturday afternoon the witness was putting the cover on his boat in Eagle River, Wisconsin
when he noticed an extremely shiny, metallic-silver, cigar-shaped
object traveling in an east to west direction very slowly over forests
of Vilas County. “There was no contrail, no wings, no windows, no
lights or anything of a discernable nature.” The object seemed to
reflect the bright sunlight off its surface. He then noticed a
vertical band of light that started to appear in front of object, and
traveled slowly to the back of the object every 15 seconds or so. “The
object did not change speed or direction for two minutes and was the
size of a small plane at about 1,000 feet.” “I am truly blown away,”
the witness added. (Source: George A. Filer & David E. Twichell, Filer’s Files: Worldwide Reports of UFO Sightings, p. 128, citing John & Jenny Hoppe of UFO Wisconsin.com).
– Steve Walters of Australia UFO Research (NSW) received a report from
Swati Sharma that at 9:32 p.m. he saw three disc-like objects rotating
rapidly and moving forward with a great speed over Sharanpur, a small
city in Uttar Pradesh, India. They were very high, and were a dim red in color. (Source: George A. Filer & David E. Twichell, Filer’s Files: Worldwide Reports of UFO Sightings, p. 51, citing Steve Walters, uforese[email protected] and Swati Sharma, [email protected]).
– At around two o’clock in the morning six saucer-shaped objects flew
over five campers in a national park near St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, and one of the objects nearly landed. While they were camping in a National Park near St. Catharines, Ontario, they first noticed 6 saucer-like objects in the sky. It was roughly 2:00 a.m. and they were
sitting around the campfire when one of the friends pointed out the objects. They all looked up and noticed the objects were flying in formation. The
objects first moved west over their position; then they came
to a complete stop, hovering in the air about 200 feet over their position in a
clearing in the woods. At this point, the witnesses slowly backed into the forest and hid behind an old
fallen log, so as to hide themselves. Next, one of the saucers began to
decend from the formation. The saucer stopped dead and hovered about 3 meters from the
ground, and two of the overhead saucers emitted a beam of light down on to the lower
saucer. At that moment, the saucer that was 3 meters off the ground emitted four pulses
of light into the ground. The light was blinding and caused the witnesses to
look away. When they finally opened their eyes and re-focused, the 6 saucers were on
their way east of their position. The saucers seemed to be speeding up and within
seconds they were out of sight. The campers moved back to their campsite and
immediately wrote down what they had all experienced. Three of the friends made it clear that they never wanted to
speak of the event again, but two of them decided to share their
and filed a report online with the National UFO Reporting Center. They
reported that the experience lasted 10 minutes. (Sources: Geoff
Dittman, 2005 Canadian UFO Survey,
case #2005-054; Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center,
Seattle, July 2005 archived webpage, report uploaded July 13, 2005).
2005 – Another brief landing with animal reactions occurred that same pre-dawn morning in Lucedale, Mississippi
at around 4:30 a.m. The witness heard his puppy barking and walked
outside to check on what was happening. He saw something “oddly shaped”
in his neighbor’s yard. Something flew over the road and as they
were trying to realize what it was it vanished. Later, something odd
was standing in a neighbor’s yard, and their dogs seemed stunned by it.
Furthermore, the cats “went beserk.” The witness’s wife and two
neighbors also witnessed the strange event. (Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center, Seattle, July 2005 archived webpage, reported July 28, 2005).
2009 – On this
evening the witness was sleeping in his bedroom near Easton, Pennsylvania
when he woke up to a humming sound. At first the sound was a straight
hum, but then it was followed by short beeps. The pattern would be:
hum-beep-beep-beep, hum-beep-beep-beep. He first thought it
was his burglar alarm, so he got out of bed to check the control panel,
only to find out that the noise was not coming from there. He next
walked back to the bedroom and checked his iPod. He then sat on
his bed and remembered thinking how bright the moon beam was coming
through the window. As he turned to look out the window he saw a huge
round light hovering in the sky, just outside his window. The
light was so bright it was almost blinding. The beam of light
was almost pure white light, extremely bright, and when he
walked over to the window he was able to ascertain that the noise was
definitely coming from it. He wasn’t startled or scared. After watching
it a few minutes, he went back into bed. The noise stopped and the
light went out. However, as he drifted off to sleep he heard a voice
say, “We have been watching you. As a matter of fact we have pictures
of the inside your body”. The next morning he was told there had
been a UFO sighting in the same county. (Source: Albert S.
Rosales, 2009 Humanoid Sighting Reports, citing http://mufoncms.com).
2011 – At 11:00 p.m. a brown triangle object with 6 “petals” moved slowly above the trees in Woodstock, Ontario, and then vanished. (Source: Chris Rutkowski, 2011 Canadian UFO Survey, case # 2011-472, citing sightings.co).
