Encounters with Aliens on this Day
1951 - A private pilot flying 17 miles east of Battle Creek, Michigan at 11:25 a.m. sighted a highly reflective domed disc-shaped object that closed head on with his aircraft at extremely high speed. Visibility conditions at the time were unlimited. (Sources: Dominique Weinstein, Aircraft UFO Encounters, p. 14; UNICAT, case # 658; Richard Hall, Uninvited Guests, p. 240).
1952 - Persons at the Knoxville, Tennessee airport weather station saw six white lights flying in a loose formation for one to two minutes. The unknown lights made a shallow dive at a weather balloon. (Sources: Project Blue Book files counted in official statistics, case # 2179; Loren E. Gross, UFOs: A History. 1951, p. 78; Don Berliner, Project Bluebook UFO Unknowns).
1954 - At the Woomera Test Range in South Australia an erratic dancing light was sighted adjacent to rocket Launcher Apron 1, Range B. The light alternated from a deep orange to yellow and was egg shaped, approximately 500 feet away. Its apparent size was three times the magnitude of Venus. Clouds at the time were at 15,000 feet altitude. (Source: Debbie Payne, Australasian Ufologist, October 2004, p. 33, citing documents released by the R.A.A.F.).
1954 - At 8:00 a.m. a young man walking in a field in Melito, Italy heard a rustling noise and saw a strange craft land nearby. Getting closer to investigate, he saw a pilot in a diving suit coming out of the craft, which emitted bronze-green rays of light, flooding the whole countryside. The witness was paralyzed. A dog barking about 100 meters away caused the rapid escape of the pilot into the craft, which took off. (Source: Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, p. 236, case 297).
1954 - At 8:30 a.m. in Girancourt, Vosges, France a vertical cylinder-shaped object hung in the sky, and changed colors. (Source: Larry Hatch, U computer database, case # 4026).
1954 - In Ranton, England near Shrewsbury, Jennie Roestenberg and her two children observed a disc-shaped, aluminium object hovering above their house at 4:45 p.m. Through two transparent panels they saw two men with white skin, having shoulder length hair and very high foreheads. They wore transparent helmets and turquoise-blue clothing, resembling ski suits. The object hovered at a tilted angle while the two occupants looked at the scene "sternly, not in an unkind fashion, but almost sadly, compassionately." (Sources: Gordon Creighton, FSR Special Issue #1: The Humanoids, p. 4; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, p. 236, case 298).
1954 - On this night an egg-shaped object, about 5.5 meters in diameter, hovered and landed near the road in Pons, Charente-Maritime, France. Two dwarf humanoids, about 1.25 meters (4.1 feet) tall, emerged from it, and went back inside almost immediately. The craft took off vertically leaving a red trail. (Sources: France Soir, October 22, 1954; Michel Carrouges, Les Apparitions de Martiens, p. 103; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, p. 236, case 296).
1954 - At 7:30 p.m. several people saw a disc-shaped object rise from some roadside bushes in Saint Martin-Aux-Chartrains, Calvados, France. (Sources: Larry Hatch, U computer database, case # 4031, citing Jean Sider, Dossier 1954 et l'Imposture Rationaliste, p. 118).
1954 - At 8:00 p.m. a car being driven in Criteuil-la-Madeleine, Charente, France by a
bricklayer, Mr. Fillonneau, stopped running when a large fiery ball flew near it. A
violent air displacement was felt. "The battery was dead and the
headlights were burned out." A thorough police investigation failed to
identify the cause of the phenomenon. (Sources: France Soir, October 14, 1954; Jacques Vallee,

1954 - Pouzou, Charente-Maritime, France. At 9:30 p.m. a man from Cherbonnieres who was driving between Serifere and Paille suddenly felt painful pricklings similar to electric shocks and his 4-year-old child started crying. They felt increasing pain as the car went on, and suddenly the engine died and the lights went off. They were blinded by a strong red light, which turned orange. It came from an object hovering above the road, and everything returned to normal when it went away. (Sources: Aime Michel, Flying Saucers and the Straight Line Mystery, p. 204; Richard Hall, The UFO Evidence, p. 74; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, p. 236-237, case 300; Michel Carrouges, Les Apparitions de Martiens, p. 129; Gregory Falla, BUFORA Vehicle Interference Report, p. 8; Mark Rodeghier, UFO Reports Involving Vehicle Interference, p. 4).
1963 - At 9:30 p.m. six strange objects were observed for the next 40 minutes, causing a local panic in Trancas, Argentina. One UFO hovered at ground level above some railroad tracks, while another, showing a dome and portholes, was near a house. When witnesses flashed a light at the object the house was flooded with a strong beam. The temperature rose inside the house and they could smell a strong sulphurous odor. Figures were seen in the vicinity of the first disc. All six objects were about eight meters in diameter, had a white and a red light beam, and left a cloud of white smoke. (Sources: Gordon Creighton, Flying Saucer Review, January-February 1966, p. 23; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, case 584).
1965 - Driving home from a hunting trip, Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Strauch and their 16-year-old son Gary, and Mr. & Mrs. Donald Grew, all from Gibbon, Minnesota, sighted a hovering luminous orange disc-shaped object with a spinning rim near St. George, Minnesota and got out to observe it at 6:10 p.m. Binoculars were used, and Mr. Trauch took one photograph on an Kodak Instamatic camera using Ektachrome X film. The object moved toward the witnesses almost directly overhead, making a high-pitched whining sound, and traveling at a very high speed. It disappeared in the southeast within seconds. 1967 - At 9:30 p.m. in Newfield, New York Donald Chiszar, age 13, and his friend Pat Crozier, age 10, saw a bright object hovering in mid-air. When it tilted toward them they could see two big, square windows separated by a bar, and strange lettering underneath them. Two aliens beings could be seen inside as well as control panels with lights and knobs. The UFO vanished on the spot. (Sources: Jim & Coral Lorenzen, UFOs over the Americas, p. 180; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, case # 889).
1973 - There are 23 UFO reports in the UFOCAT database for this date from the United States and Canada, including close encounters in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Texas.
1973 - At 2:30 a.m. Mrs. Heitfeld, a resident of the Cincinnati suburb of Covedale, Ohio awoke with a terrible thirst. A bright light outside her house then attracted her. She drew the curtains and saw a line of lights forming an arc. Each light was as large as an open hand. There were six of them, separated from one another by 120 cm. She also observed another light hovering above a nearby parking lot. Inside this light she observed a gray "ape like" creature. She woke her 13-year-old son who also saw the creature. The being was completely surrounded by a bell-jar shaped area of light. No facial features could be discerned, but the witness could see a snout like feature on the face. Its body was uniformly gray, and it was moving its arms in the sort of jerky way a robot would. Ground traces from the UFO were later found. (Sources: Skylook, February 1975, p. 3; Leonard H. Stringfield, Situation Red: The UFO Siege, p. 117; David F. Webb & Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case 1973-53; David F. Webb, 1973: The Year of The Humanoids; Francis Ridge, Regional Encounters, p. 51).
1974 - UFO contactee Oscar
Magocsi, a Hungarian immigrant, claimed he encountered a landed disc-shaped
object in Huntsville, Ontario, Canada
on this day and came in contact with its occupants, who were
human in appearance. He claimed to have been taken onboard the
craft, which first flew him over Lake Ontario, and then
transported him to other worlds. (Source: Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid
Contact Database 1974, citing UFO Updates, September 2002).
1974 - Mr. Ravolo, a police inspector, and his wife saw three UFOs descend in their wooded backyard in Senghor, Dakar, Senegal at 8:21 p.m. The largest was a cone-shaped object up to 100 feet tall. A tall, thin bipedal figure covered with short wire-brush hair departed from the object, and then loped slowly toward the man, who fired two warning shots from his revolver. The creature then jumped 20 feet away. Trampled trees and broken branches were found at the site. (Source: David F. Webb & Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case # A1365; Ted R. Phillips, Physical Traces Associated with UFO Sightings, citing Saga Magazine).
1977 - At 3:20 a.m. a railroad engineer and conductor near Fostoria, Seneca County, Ohio sighted a 90-foot wide, 45-foot thick disc-shaped object that arced through the sky, then leveled off near the train at 15 feet altitude. It revolved at 9 rpm. The close encounter lasted 22 minutes. (Source: Francis Ridge, Regional Encounters, p. 70).
1978 - On this day three figures dressed in silvery clothing float up a hill in the rural community of Despatch, near Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Ground marks consisting of eight regularly spaced indentations and flattened grass were found nearby. (Sources: Edna Smith, Awareness, April 1979, p. 6; Xenolog, March 1979, p. 13).
1978 - During the early evening hours, 20-year-old Australian pilot Frederick Valentich disappeared over Bass Strait while flying from Melbourne’s Moorabbin Airport to King Island, off the coast of Victoria, Australia. He told air traffic controllers over the radio in Melbourne that he was being buzzed by an elongated UFO with four bright lights about 1,000 feet above him. He continued to comment about the object's characteristics before all contact was lost. His last communication occurred at 7:12 p.m., during a large flurry of Australian UFO reports. Many UFOs were reported in the vicinity of King Island and the area around Bass Strait on that day and night. During the same time as his disappearance, 20 people located in different areas around Bass Strait observed a green light in the same direction and at the same time as Valentich was reporting the approach and description of his object with a green light. Other reports include a mother and four teenagers in the southern suburb of Frankston, Victoria, who reported what appeared to resemble a stationary skyrocket. Another report came from Ormond, Victoria at 7:15 p.m. when lights were noted in a cigar-shaped arrangement, and two lads were out on the street communicating with their walkie-talkies when they saw a star-shaped object appear at a low altitude over their heads..No trace has ever been found of either the pilot or his Cessna 182 aircraft. (Sources: Allan Hendry, International UFO Reporter, December 1978, p. 2; Paul Norman, www.skycontrol.net/ufo; UNICAT, case # 134; FSR, March 1979, p. 3; Jacques Vallee, Confrontations: A Scientist's Search for Alien Contact, p. 127).
1978 - At around 8:00 p.m. a young man walking near a field in Cosenza, Italy suddenly saw the area illuminated by a bright light and could no longer see his surroundings. Up on a nearby hill he saw an oval-shaped object resting on the ground. A human like figure with two antennae like protrusions on his head stood by the object. Frightened, he ran away but fell as four humanoids approached him in bizarre, bounding like movements. The witness then fainted temporarily, and when he awoke he saw the four five-foot tall entities again. They wore buttoned jackets, backpacks and helmets with antennae. Their hands appeared pincer-like. He fainted again; when he woke up much later the humanoids and UFOs had vanished. (Source: Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1978, case # 136, citing Paolo Fiorino, UFO Universe, October-November 1991).
1978 - At three o'clock in the afternoon in the suburbs of Dayton, Ohio a man watching vapor trails saw a round object at an estimated 35,000 feet travelling south. It abruptly turned abruptly east, next hovered from one to two minutes, and then accelerated in a vertical ascent through cirrus clouds and was gone from view. There were two witnesses and the sighting lasted three minutes. (Source: Dan Wright, MUFON UFO Journal, November 1989, p. 17).
1978 - In the neighborhood of Nueva Roma and the city of Casilda, Santa Fe province, Argentina a disc-shaped object descended to ground level during the night. It then hovered five meters above the ground for five minutes, rose vertically, and finally shot off to the north. (Source: Jane Thomas, UFO Newsclipping Service, February 14, 1979, citing La Nacion, October 24, 1978).
1982 - On a clear day at 12:40 p.m. in Nancy, Meurthe-et-Moselle department, France Biologist Pierre Henri saw a small metallic 1.5 meter wide disc-shaped object overhead. It was ringed with lights. Making a grinding noise, it descended into his garden and came down only a meter away from him, hovering at one meter altitude. The plants in the garden were dehydrated and withered by the presence of the object, which lasted 20 minutes. (Sources: SOS-OVNI France, Phenomena magazine, issue # 28; UNICAT, case 128, citing GEPAN issue #17, March 1983).
1983 - At 11:45 a.m. north of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England a disc with lights swooped down on a car with two witnesses driving through the countryside and paced the car for 50 minutes. It finally left them when they got near Cuddingham. (Source: Jenny Randles, Science and the UFOs, p. 132).
1987 - At 8:45 p.m. two men, Gordon and Hall, were driving five miles south of Wytheville, Virginia on highway 21 when they spotted a huge 500 foot long object flying at 1,500 to 2,000 feet altitude. It made no noise, was batwinged or dome shaped, and had a snub-nosed cockpit. One side was lit up with a glaring white light, while the other side was totally dark. It also had 6-7 windows in backwith a soft yellowish, incandescent glow coming from each. A second object, a red ball of light also at 1,500 feet, moved fast and shot into a cloud. (Sources: David Bodner, MUFON case files, case 880305a; Danny B. Gordon, Don't Look Up! The Real Story Behind the Virginia UFO Sightings, p. 48).
1989 - In Burkhala, Yagodinsky, Russia a UFO approached an electrical power line, changed course sharply, then climbed at a speed of 1,000 km/h. It made no sound, and had 7-9 lights that shined along the contour of the craft. (Source: Vadim K. Ilyin, MUFON UFO Journal, November 2001, p. 9).
1990 - At 5:50 p.m. a hunter in Halifax, Plymouth County, Massachusetts saw a white-glowing orb zig-zagging in the sky, then stop and give off spot on-and-off flashes. He had one hour of missing time. (Source: Donald M. Ware, MUFON UFO Journal, August 1991, p. 14).
1995 - A 5-year-old boy, who had been involved in a humanoid encounter the previous night, was sleeping in Guanica, Puerto Rico late on this night when a powerful light entered his bedroom. The brightness of the light woke him up. He then saw a small reddish sphere come in through the window and fall to the floor. When it hit the ground, it transformed itself into a short dwarf-like creature, with long pointed ears and huge oval-shaped eyes. Screaming, the boy ran to the closet. His grandfather had noticed the bright light in the boy's room, and now came in to see what was happening. Upon entering the room he saw the bizarre creature, and he tried to hit it with a baseball bat, but the creature suddenly transformed itself back into a ball of light and shot out the window. Looking out the window he then saw a landed metallic object on the patio, resting on several legs. It had several lighted windows and lights. The UFO suddenly shot up into the sky at very high speed. (Source: Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database, case # 3901, citing Jose Martinez, Puerto Rico Research Group).
1999 - At 9:00 p.m. a witness in Maryville, Blount County, Tennessee noticed that coyotes and dogs were howling very loudly, so he went outside and saw a cylinder-shaped UFO with lights in the sky. (Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center, Seattle, October 1999 webpage).
2000 - At three o'clock in the afternoon a United Airlines 737 was paced by a large cylinder-shaped UFO on final approach to San Francisco, California airport. It was dark, wingless, 300 feet long, and had no windows. It paced for ten minutes, then rose rapidly and shot up over the plane. Instruments on board fluctuated, but there was no radar return. There were reportedly 22 witnesses. (Source: UFO Magazine (USA), February 2001, p. 28).
- At 9:20 p.m. a string of five bright orange oval-shaped lights
traveled at treeline height on a clear, moonlit night in Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia. (Source: UFO Magazine (USA), February 2002, p. 20).
